Connecticut honored its victims of the Sept. 11 attacks Wednesday evening at the Living Memorial in Westport.
People arrived at Sherwood Island Park hours in advance to pay tribute to those who died in the attacks.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell says she dedicated the eighth anniversary of 9/11 to the memory of Beverly Eckert, whose husband died in the attacks, and who herself was killed in a plane crash earlier this year.
"We'll never forget the men, women and children who died," Rell said before the ceremony.
