A settlement has been reached in the fire that killed three sisters and two of their grandparents in Stamford on Christmas morning in 2011.
Court records show the contractor of the home, Michael Borcina, will pay $5 million to the children's father, Matthew Badger.
Authorities said the fire began after Borcina left a bag of fireplace ashes and embers in the mudroom.
The suit claimed Borcina should have installed smoke detectors in the home during the renovations.
