This Memorial Day marked the first Monday holiday on which liquor sales were permitted in Connecticut.
Gov. Dan Malloy signed a bill last week that lifted the state's ban on alcohol sales on Sundays and Monday holidays, including Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.
Westport shop owners say they are skeptical as to whether Sunday and Monday sales will change their bottom lines.
"Our overhead is higher, and we did the same sales in those two days, compared to one day last year," Chris Vellozzi, a Westport liquor store owner, says.
State officials are hoping lifting the Blue Laws will add about $5 million in state revenue.
