SHU to host state's first intercollegiate e-sports tournament

The growing world of e-sports is coming to Connecticut universities as students at Sacred Heart organized the state's first intercollegiate competition for video games.
The first annual Connecticut eSports Showcase was a capstone project for students of the e-sports minor program.
Students were in charge of managing entrants, promoting the event and preparing a technical broadcast for livestreaming.

Teams from eight other Connecticut colleges, including Yale and UConn, will duke it out on popular titles including Super Smash Brothers, Rocket League and League of Legends.
Faculty advisors say this isn't just fun and games - these students are preparing for real careers in sports management, communication and broadcasting.
Winners and losers brackets will be held throughout the weekend, with champions being crowned on Sunday.
