Six Flags invests $1 billion in theme parks; Kingda Ka, Green Lantern coasters retired
Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has announced a more than $1 billion investment in its theme parks.
The investment will span over the next two years and includes the launch of THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity in 2025.
Officials also revealed that a multiworld-record-breaking launch roller coaster will debut at the Jackson, NJ theme park in 2026.
To make way for the new coaster, the park has retired Kingda Ka and the Green Lantern coasters.
Kingda Ka, ranked as the world’s tallest and fastest coaster, has delivered more than 12 million rides since 2005. The ride’s retirement, in addition to the removal of The Twister and Parachutes, makes way for the new signature attraction. The park will also remove The Sky Way for future development, continuing the park’s commitment to enhancing the guest experience.
“We understand that saying goodbye to beloved rides can be difficult, and we appreciate our guests' passion. These changes are an important part of our growth and dedication to delivering exceptional new experiences. We look forward to sharing more details next summer,” said Brian Bacica, park president.
Construction on the new roller coaster begins soon.
