Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim says the city's public facilities department "did a perfect job" Sunday clearing away snow and making roads safe for travel.

"I was very impressed by the work our team did dealing with the first accumulated snowfall of the season. They've had a lot of practice over the years and today they made the city safe for people going back to work Monday morning," Ganim told News 12.

"But the danger posed by ice on our roads and sidewalks is something you can never completely protect against -- and that's why I'm asking folks to be extremely careful in the hours and days ahead, especially as we see these colder temperatures," Ganim said.

Connecticut saw several inches of snow overnight into Sunday morning. Afternoon temperatures on Monday will only reach the upper 20s to near 30, with wind chills staying in the single digits to teens.
