Funeral services were held today for Lt. Marshall Sanford, the veteran Redding firefighter who collapsed and died Sunday while getting into his ambulance on the way to a brush fire.
A procession to the Redding Ridge Cemetery started around 11 a.m.
Fellow firefighters lined Black Rock Turnpike for the service, which featured bagpipes and a symbolic last call.
Sanford was a 50-year veteran of the department.
Fire officials say he was the heart and soul of the department and will be greatly missed.
