Some Connecticut shoppers say they are buying less for their Super Bowl parties this year due to the rising cost of groceries.

Some Connecticut shoppers say they are buying less for their Super Bowl parties this year due to the rising cost of groceries.  
Stew Leonard, Jr. says he's expecting to have a big weekend at his stores for both Super Bowl weekend and then Valentine's Day. 
"It's a very tough time right now. Our suppliers are calling us and telling us their prices are going up," Leonard says. 
He says customers can also save money by buying local or buying store brands instead of premium brands. 
Shoppers in Darien were purchasing items like sausage, hot dogs, hamburgers, steak, and chicken wings.
Some shoppers say they'll splurge, but others say they're going to cut down because of the rising costs.
Inflation in the U.S. hit a 40-year high Thursday, accelerating to a 7.5% annual rate.
