Some residents and city officials in Norwalk say they want to see hunting banned from a nearby beach.
Hunting is allowed at Calf Pasture Beach below the high water mark. The hunters are currently targeting Canada Geese, and ducks later in the season. The Department of Environmental Protection says the birds are usually out on the far edge of the marsh area, hidden in the grass and reeds.
Norwalk officials say hunters usually obey the laws, however, they do have a concern for public safety since the beach is used year-round. The city is going to start compiling complaints to present to the DEP in an effort to ban hunting at Calf Pasture and other municipal parks.
