Specialists at the Cleveland Clinic are weighing surgical options for Charla Nash, the 55-year-old woman who was viciously attacked by an escaped chimpanzee in Stamford last week.
Nash is sedated while plastic surgeons, nurses and specialists determine whether or not she is eligible for a face transplant. The Cleveland Clinic performed the nation's first face transplant two months ago.
The victim's twin brother, Mike Nash, is heading to court this week in an attempt to become his sister's legal guardian. He is also asking to become the guardian of his sister's 17-year-old daughter.
Doctors say that it may be a week before the decision on Charla Nash's face transplant eligibility is made.
