The spring freeze that's upon southwestern Connecticut can mean trouble for the flowers and plants that are trying to bloom.
Greg Fisk, a horticulturalist at New Canaan Florists, Garden and Gifts, says people should bring all their potted plants inside before the temps drop even further. He says if plants need to be left outside, it's best to cover them with fabric and not plastic. Fisk adds that watering plants when it's cold also helps.
The cold weather isn't bad for all plants and flowers. Fisk says some plants that typically would last a week or less in hot weather are likely to last longer in cooler weather.
