St. Paul's on the Green in Norwalk says it has lost three parishioners to COVID-19.
The church has turned to livestreaming services to protect those who attend service.
Rev. Daniel Simons says 72-year-old John Verel, 67-year-old Joseph Hawley and 84-year-old Mary Roman have died due to coronavirus at Norwalk Hospital.
Roman was a former Norwalk city clerk and a senior Olympian.
State Sen. Bob Duff, who has attended services at the church for 10 years, says it's especially hard since the community is very close-knit.
"You can't really mourn together," Duff says. "You can only mourn separately and that makes it extremely difficult."
He says that as members grieve those deaths, there are also parishioners currently fighting the virus.
A GoFundMe started for Roman's family can be found
