The Stamford Animal Shelter opened its doors and cages Saturday in hopes of giving animals good homes.
Managers say August is one of their busiest months for taking in strays. The shelter has about 30 dogs, 20 cats, four rabbits and a couple of hamsters in need of love. Some potential owners expressed concern about the animals? medical condition and history, but those worries quickly melted away. One family, which already has crabs, a dog and a lizard, adopted a hamster.
The Stamford Animal Shelter received 75 applications at the event.
