The Stamford Courthouse was closed to the public after some employees may have been exposed to another employee who was exhibiting COVID-19-like symptoms, officials say.
Chief court administrator Patrick L. Carroll made the announcement Tuesday in a press release.
"Upon receiving information this evening that some employees at the Stamford-Norwalk Judicial District Courthouse may have been exposed to another employee who was exhibiting COVID-19-like symptoms, in an extreme of caution, I have ordered the following, effective immediately," Carroll wrote.
The Stamford Courthouse will be closed to the public until further notice, and comprehensive cleaning and sanitization of the courthouse will take place.
Cases from Stamford will be transferred to the Fairfield Judicial District Courthouse, located at 1061 Main St. in Bridgeport.

The employees who may have been exposed to the other employee who was exhibiting COVID-19-like symptoms have been instructed to self-quarantine at home for 14 days or until such time as test results are received regarding the employee who was exhibiting COVID-19-like symptoms.
