Local organizations are coming together to help families dealing with childhood cancer.
Grace Targonski, founder of the organization Caring with Grace, was joined by Stamford Mayor David Martin to declare September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in the city.
Targonski often volunteers and gives back to the Ronald McDonald House, which provides housing for families while their children are seeking treatment at nearby hospitals.
Dick Popilowski, of Ronald McDonald House Charities, said they are very fortunate to have a volunteer like Targonski who has the passion for what she is doing.
“It's just remarkable to see a young individual step up to the plate and be able to go out to the community and solicit the community for support," said Popilowski.
