A Stamford man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for two home invasions made in 2020.
Authorities say 34-year-old Bartosz Kurpiecki broke into a Stamford couple's home in November 2020 and held them at gunpoint while he stole their Porsche and other items.
Kurpiecki returned to their home that Christmas morning but was caught by an off-duty Stamford police that the couple had hired to monitor the property.
According to the state’s attorney:
“Police were dispatched to the home after a motion sensor activated. There, they found the defendant in the rear of the home, trying to break in through sliding doors. After a foot chase through a nearby wooded area and a struggle with police, officers took the defendant into custody. The defendant carried a backpack containing a facsimile firearm, knife, handcuffs, metal pipe, tape, wire cutters, screw drivers, rubber mallet and a flashlight. Also located on his person was a key to the stolen Porsche.”
Kurpiecki pleaded guilty to home invasion, first-degree threatening, first-degree unlawful restraint, first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny, attempted home invasion and assault on a peace officer.
