The city of Stamford is set to receive almost $1 million in funding to clean up an industrial site near the Stamford Train Station.
The site will be transformed into 714 new apartments and park land, marking a significant redevelopment project for the area.
This funding is part of a larger effort to revitalize "brownfield" sites across the state, including:
  • Newtown: $610,000 to continue redeveloping the old Fairfield Hills psychiatric hospital
  • Torrington: $400,000 for 25 acres along the Naugatuck River and the Yankee Peddler Inn
These projects aim to breathe new life into underutilized and contaminated sites, promoting economic growth and community development.
