A 50-year-old woman was found stabbed to death inside of her Stamford apartment, police say.
The victim was identified as Denise McLaughlin. Stamford police say the discovery was made during a welfare check Friday on Manor Street near Harbor Point around 9 p.m.
McLaughlin's friends say she didn't show up to several appointments. The friends told police they couldn't get a hold of her all week.
McLaughlin's body was found inside her first-floor apartment, and police believe she had been dead for several days.
The autopsy showed she died from multiple stab wounds.
Police say McLaughlin lived with her son who wasn't home when they arrived.
The Stamford State's Attorney's Office was called in to assist the Stamford Police Major Crime Squad with the investigation.
Police did not say if they had any suspects.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Stamford Police Major Crime Squad at 203-977-4417.
