A local group hopes to save lives at beaches this summer by using drones.
High school seniors at King Low Heywood Thomas School, a private school in Stamford, partnered with Flying Robots founder Bill Pedra to design a drone attachment that would help save swimmers in distress by dropping a life preserver to them.
The idea is to buy the swimmer time until help arrives.
The students have even started a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for what they're calling, "Project Ryptide."
