High school students from the Stamford area received real-world lessons in financial literacy Wednesday.
Over 200 students interested in finance and business participated in a financial reality fair at Stamford High School.
They learned about making financial decisions, including how to make a budget and the importance of having a good credit score.
Staff say the goal is to prepare students for the future.
"They're excited actually to learn a little bit more financial education, getting an apartment, picking out the clothing and picking out their own phone plan. It's meant to give them options, to educate them as far as do what you really want and then you have certain other limitations, parameters to do what you want," says Dorothea Mackey, head of career and technology education at Stamford High School.
The event was organized in partnership with Members Credit Union, CT Financial Scholars and the Office of the State Treasurer. State Treasurer Erick Russell also spoke to students.
