? Winter officially started Wednesday, but the cold weather and extra heating costs are nothing new to Connecticut residents.
The average temperature for Wednesday should be 41 degrees, instead residents will be lucky to see the mercury reach 30 degrees. The cold weather also brings a demand for home heating oil. A gallon of oil from Santa Fuel in Bridgeport carries a $2.44 price tag, compared to the cost of $1.89 during the same time last year.
Still, experts say consumers are paying less for oil now than a few short and warmer months ago.
