Connecticut lawmakers are wearing red today to mark Equal Pay Day and call attention to the state’s persistent wage gap.

The day represents how far into the new year women must work to earn what men made on average in the prior year.

Officials said women in Connecticut earn about 83 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gap that has widened in recent years.

Democratic lawmakers are pushing a wage‑transparency bill that would require employers to post salary ranges in job listings.

Supporters say the measure would help level the playing field and make pay practices more equitable.
