State police say a Litchfield man was arrested and is facing charges after hitting a 5-month-old child.
It happened on Thursday around 11:30 a.m. on Fern Avenue in Litchfield.
Officers said Matthew Ruzbasan, 34, was arrested for slapping the child's back, forcibly pushing the child's feet toward their head and violently swinging the child around in the room.
They said Ruzbasan was caught on camera set up by a female who made the complaint to the police.
Police say once officers arrived at the property, the woman was seated in a car in the driveway, holding the child.
Police did not release information on the relationship between the female, Ruzbasan and the child involved.
The 5-month-old was taken to the hospital for treatment and later transferred to a higher level of care, according to officials.
Ruzbasan is being held on a $100,000 bond.
His charges include intentional cruelty to persons, risk of injury to a child and reckless endangerment in the first degree.
