State police: Man seriously injured in Route 8 crash in Thomaston

The single-car crash happened around 3:15 a.m. near Exit 40.

A man was seriously injured in an early morning crash Saturday on Route 8 north in Thomaston, state police say.
The single-car crash happened around 3:15 a.m. near Exit 40.
Police say a white 2013 Honda Accord sedan left its lane and struck a guardrail within the right shoulder. The vehicle then collided with a stone wall located in the median.
The driver, Ivan Jesus Aybar of Torrington, was taken to Waterbury Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Passenger Albin Jose Santos was also taken to Waterbury Hospital for serious injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours while troopers investigated.
