Five teenagers from New Haven are facing charges Wednesday after leading police on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash and a foot pursuit.
The incident happened off Exit 43 on I-95 northbound in West Haven around 3 a.m.
Police say officers first tried to pull over the Jeep in Stratford after a report of suspicious activity.
They say the driver took off, leading them on a high-speed chase on I-95. State police then took over the pursuit, but troopers say they had to call it off because the driver was going too fast.
Police say they saw the Jeep leave the highway around Exit 43 and then found it crashed.
All the juveniles ran off but were located at various areas nearby.
According to police, the teens were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
They have been charged and will appear in juvenile court later this month.
Police are investigating if the teens are tied to any other recent stolen vehicle incidents in the area
