A special legislative committee says it might not be able to decide if Stratford can hold a new election.
The debate stems from a state House race in which dozens of people received the wrong ballot.
Republicans say they want a new election, while Democrats said it would be too disruptive.
"How we can look at those 75 ballots, these voters who were not granted the opportunity to cast a ballot -- how we can look at them and say that, 'Yes, we're confident that this was reliable? No, there's no serious doubts as to the reliability.' How we can do that just escapes me," says Republican state Rep. Jason Perillo.
On Monday, the committee will decide whether to send two sets of recommendations to the full state House of Representatives.
The chamber is controlled by Democrats.
