Hundreds of Connecticut's veterans attended the unveiling of a new memorial at the state Capitol in Hartford Monday.
The unveiling, which comes just days before Veterans Day, is the result of years of efforts from two different Connecticut governors, according to officials.
The memorial includes five pillars, each representing a branch of the military, and faces representing lives dedicated to the country.
Gov. Dannel Malloy says it's a good starting point, but also that he has bigger plans.
"The truest monument that we can build is one that operates every single day," Malloy says.
