The Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation is helping ensure children learn to swim.

Stew Leonard Jr. was at Horizons at Green Farms Academy in Westport to present a $5,000 check that will provide more than 500 free lessons for kids at the HGFA in Bridgeport.

Leonard and his wife Kim began the foundation after their 2-year-old son drowned.

"You know the goal with my wife and I and our family is, if we could just save one life as a result of our tragedy, all of this effort we are putting into it is worth it right now," said Leonard, CEO of Stew Leonard's.

The swim school helps to make children "confident and comfortable" swimmers.
