A winter weather advisory is in effect starting Saturday at 12 p.m. until Sunday at 7 a.m. for Fairfield and Litchfield counties.
Warmer air will eventually pull temperatures up on Saturday night and change the snow over to sleet and freezing rain for a time.
Temperatures will rise more and plain rain will fall for Sunday afternoon.
If the colder air lags a bit, then significant icing may be a problem closer to the I-84 corridor and points north.
Slippery roads and even power outages are likely with the glaze to 0.20 inches plus of ice. The timing on the ice looks to be mostly overnight and into Sunday morning. The ice potential may linger for Litchfield County the longest, so the winter weather advisory will stay up through the day on Sunday.
Snowfall totals range from 2 to 4 inches and up to 6 inches north.
After the storm exits late Sunday, colder and windy weather will take over for Presidents Day and through next week.
There is the potential for another winter storm next week on Thursday.
