A winter weather advisory has been issued for Litchfield County starting noon on Tuesday for mixed precipitation that will include snow and freezing rain. Temperatures will slowly rise through Tuesday morning, but some spots may not change over to rain fast enough and freezing rain is possible. Up to 1 inch of snow and .one-tenth of an inch of ice possible.
Wet snow arrives Tuesday morning after 8 a.m. Temperatures will be at their coldest during the overnight and rise to the upper 20s and lower 30s at this time. It will snow for a bit and then change over to rain closer to lunchtime. Look for rain showers to continue in and around Fairfield County. The snow may linger longer and also fall as freezing rain for a time for Litchfield County. Watch your local temperatures during the afternoon and evening as the rain continues to fall.
A coating on up to 1 inch of snow is possible, with the higher amounts falling north. Watch for slick and slushy spots on the roadways during the late morning.
Once the rain arrives, it will wash away any snow that fell and accumulated. Temperatures will rise into the mid- and upper 30s and stay there overnight into early Wednesday. The rain will wrap up before sunrise Wednesday.
Temperatures will stay milder through the rest of the week with on and off clouds and rain. Temperatures could top 60 by the weekend.
