Americares sent a mobile doctor's office from Stamford to help hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico Tuesday afternoon.
The bus, which includes two full exam rooms, set out for Florida, where it will take a boat ride to Ponce, a port city on the island.
The mobile clinic also has space to give vaccines, administer blood and urine tests and store medication.
In the past, Americares has sent the same 40-foot mobile clinic to New York for Hurricane Sandy and New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina. It will stay in Puerto Rico permanently, officials say, where even basic infrastructure is months or years away from restoration.
Americares has also sent $33 million in aid to the island.
