Stamford police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for the fatal shooting of a 39-year-old at the Southwood Square Apartments Wednesday night.
Police say Michael Antonio James, 53, shot and killed Torrick Johnson after an argument.
They say Johnson was shot three times – in the chest, groin and abdomen – with a 9 mm handgun. He later died at Stamford Hospital.
"It's devastating ... I'm really still in shock," says Deanna Fuller, the mother of Johnson's 13-year-old daughter. "You just randomly go and find that type of rage to take somebody's life, it's disgusting."
Police say Johnson tried to keep the peace when an argument broke out. They say he was targeted.
James is charged with murder, assault and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He is being held on $350,000 bond and due back in court on Oct. 11.
