Sewanhaka High School security guard accused of sexually assaulting 15-year-old girl

Police say a high school security guard is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
They say Daniel Valenzuela, 22, was arrested Thursday at his home in Elmont. He worked at Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park. His last day was Oct. 1.
Valenzuela allegedly assaulted the girl on multiple occasions between June and October. Police haven't confirmed whether the victim was a student at the school. Police have not said where the alleged abuse took place, but the district told News 12 it did not happen on school grounds.
The superintendent sent News 12 a statement that said in part, "A former security guard at Sewanhaka High School was arrested last week. This individual had been vetted and cleared through all of the rigorous steps in our hiring process and we are appalled by these disturbing allegations."
He's charged with criminal sexual acts and was arraigned Friday.
Police ask anyone with information on the incidents or who might have been a victim to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
