State minimum wage will increase to $12 per hour on Sept. 1
Connecticut is among 24 states that will Connecticut is among 24 states that will increase minimum wage.
On Sept. 1, minimum wage goes up to $12 per hour for most workers.
It will then increase by a $1 an hour each year until it reaches $15.
Forty-eight cities across the nation are also raising their minimum wage.
The US House this year passed the Raise the Wage Act to make $15 per hour a federal standard.
The bill failed in the Senate.
