Police: Hempstead man arrested for hitting victim with metal sign

A Hempstead man was arrested for allegedly assaulting another man Friday afternoon on Fulton Avenue.

Police say Edgar Martinez was arguing with the man before grabbing a metal "Boost Mobile" sign and hitting the victim in the head with it.

The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Hernandez is facing charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

He is expected to be arraigned Saturday.
