Black chiropractors in America make up only 2% of the field’s population. Stratford chiropractor Dr. Jonathan Charlestin is encouraging young people of color to enter the field.
Charlestin says he often discusses his own professional journey when mentoring young people.
“When I was 11 years old, I stole a bike -- and while riding that bike, I got hit by a car. Due to my injuries, I was treated by a chiropractor and from then on, I knew I loved the field. All these years later, I have turned into a mentor for young people to make sure that they stay on the right path,” he said.
His practice, Charlestin Chiropractic Group, is relocating to 1825 Barnum Ave. in January.
