A Stratford group home says it is being forced to close its doors due to state budget cuts.

Unit B of the Ella Grasso Center, which at one time cared for several groups of developmentally challenged people, will close down by the end of the month. Its clients will have to be relocated to other facilities.

Donna Wellner, a supervisor for the unit, says she worries about the people for whom she has cared and how they will manage to start again.

State workers will be testifying before the Appropriations Committee Thursday in Hartford. At the hearing, the workers will be asking the state to stop closing state group homes and regional centers.
