? The Stratford Town Council voted to put a referendum on the ballot in November so voters can decide on the fate of Long Beach West.
Stratford Mayor Jim Miron said he was in favor of a binding referendum on whether to sell the property to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Councilman Alvin O?Neal also said he would support a binding referendum.
Town Council Chairman Mike Henrick says he thinks it's a good idea to let the voters choose. ?I think that with an issue this big, the public should have some say in whether or not we sell our land,? he says.
The issue will be sent to the state attorney?s office to be reviewed and placed on the ballot, Henrick says.
