The Stratford Health Department is promoting healthy eating ahead of the start of the new school year.
The department held a "Kids Day" event Monday at the town farmers market.
It featured yoga, cooking instruction, gardening, story time and more.
Organizers say the farmers market helps kids associate fresh fruits and vegetables with a fun day outside.
"I think encouraging health and healthy lifestyles early on will help develop better habits later in life," says health educator Kelley Meier. "So we're always trying to encourage that."
Fresh produce can be purchased from the farmers market every Monday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
