Kids in Bridgeport spend the day outside beautifying a local museum's bee hive and garden.
More than 200 Discovery Magnet students planted over 300 plants, shrubs and flowers at the Discovery Museum Thursday after learning the hives had collapsed.
The plants that will flower from February through the fall will serve as food for the bees and other pollinators, helping them survive through the winter.
The museum's director and former Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch say it’s important for kids to learn about the role bees play in our ecosystem.
The project was made possible by a grant from the Park City Honey Company, whose owner serves as the beekeeper for the hives.
