Norwalk Community College students on Wednesday ran through the same training scenarios that police officers do, including a traffic stop and a domestic violence situation.

In some scenarios, the suspect is armed. It is all part of Stratford's Police Engagement Program. Police officers visit local schools to hear young people's concerns about police, but also show them what it is like to be out in the field.

"What we're trying to do is give the community a little touch of what we do and we try to bring it to them," says Sgt. James Lofton. "That's why we do the 'shoot, don't shoot' scenarios. And we try to give them a little taste of it."

Stratford police started doing these visits a few weeks ago. So far, they've visited Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport and both high schools in Stratford.
