Norwalk teens took part in a science and engineering camp at the Maritime Aquarium Thursday.
The mayor's student engineering and science program is a weeklong camp that is free of charge to its 50 campers.
Norwalk Mayor Hary Rilling helped start the program five years ago and says students get hands on experience.
The goal of the camp is to use resources at the Maritime Aquarium to help teens achieve STEM literacy, or science, technology, engineering and math skills.
"This is the wave of the future, this is what's happening right now, and these young people need to be prepared for that," Rilling says.
Students took part in feeding stingrays and interacting with and learning about other animals at the aquarium.
