A new study is dispelling the misconception that marijuana smoke is safer than tobacco.
The findings come in a study published in the journal JAMA Network Open.
Experts say anytime you burn something, it creates toxic compounds, carcinogens and particulate matter that are harmful to your health.
They say all smoke is considered an irritant to the respiratory tract.
Authors of the study say even though cannabis is natural, there are “plenty of toxins and tar” in cannabis smoke that can hurt the lungs.
