A Bronx-based group kicked off the summer festival season Friday.
The Women's Housing and Economic Development Corporation hosted the 'Sun Festival' on 161st Street between Elton Avenue and Melrose Avenue.
WHEDCO representatives say the goal of the festival is to bring resources and fun to the Melrose community.
Booths were set up throughout the festival to connect people with cultural, nonprofit, business and economic resources.
There were also Zumba classes and a celebrity chef encouraging people to be healthy.
Another WHEDCO festival will be held next weekend.
