Sunday marked the second anniversary of the shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Twenty first-graders and six educators were fatally shot on the tragic day in 2012.
The town of Newtown did not hold any public commemorations.
One of the ways that victims are being remembered is through 26 memorial playgrounds. It's called the "Sandy Ground: Where Angels Play" project. Each one is dedicated to a student or teacher killed in the shooting.
One playground was built on Penfield Beach in Fairfield to honor 6-year-old Jessica Rekos.
While the children are young and don't know why the playground was built in the first place, the parents say they find comfort in bringing their children to one of the angel playgrounds.
For every day that the life of Jessica Rekos is missed, the parents feel her legacy live on while watching their children make her playground their place for fun.
