Hundreds of swimmers braved the Long Island Sound this weekend to participate in the 18th annual Swim Across America Fairfield County Open-Water Swim.
The event, which took place off the shore of Stamford, saw participants tackle distances ranging from half a mile to three miles, all in the name of fighting cancer.
The swim raised a record-breaking $475,000 for the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACG), a Stamford-based organization dedicated to advancing cancer research.
Over the past 18 years, Swim Across America Fairfield County has raised more than $5.7 million for ACG. The funds have been instrumental in supporting groundbreaking research aimed at developing new and innovative cancer treatments.
