A teacher, known as a "modern-day Mary Poppins," has earned a permanent memorial in Fairfield that was unveiled Saturday.
Deanna Marie Herlihy, also known as Ms. Dee, is described as a passionate and well-known preschool teacher in town. She passed away June 4 after her second battle with breast cancer.
Herlihy taught children at the Curiosity Corner School for 20 years.
Debra Cingari says this is a beautiful way to honor her late sister. The community is hoping the memorial will turn into a grab-and-go book service for residents.
