The Bridgeport Central girls basketball team is the News 12 Connecticut Team of the Week, sponsored by the Hospital for Special Surgery.

It's the 30th anniversary of the Hilltoppers last state championship, and the team is paying homage to that squad on gameday programs and this year's uniforms.

Head coach Steven Wolfe says it's all about getting the program back to prominence."History is not lost on us, so we keep that in the back of our minds, but we grind it out day by day.

I'm proud of my girls and I'm proud of the work they put in, and we've got a lot more work to do, but I like the direction we're going in," Wolfe said.
