A teenage girl who police say ignored railroad crossing signals walked away without any injuries Monday after a Metro-North train slammed into her car.
Officials say the 17-year-old was attempting to cross the tracks before 11 a.m. in Stamford despite a flashing light warning. The car was badly damaged, but she escaped unharmed.
"[She] was taken to Stamford Hospital. ?There's no reported injuries, but she was charged with going through an activated crossing," says MTA Police Capt. James McKenna.
The 50 train riders were not injured. A bus was brought in to take the passengers to the Stamford station.
