Downpours expected today in western Connecticut: Showers and possible thunderstorms move in after 4 p.m. with the heaviest rain toward the I-95 corridor and southward
Soggy weekend: Showers are expected Friday night into the weekend, keeping flooding concerns and messy outdoor plans in play, especially for Saturday.
Drier, sunnier stretch ahead: Beautiful weather expected for the start of next week.
Clouds thicken through midday as a cold front approaches from the west. Showers and potential thunderstorms develop by early-to-mid afternoon and continue into the evening. Winds stay light and variable before turning east later in the day.
The main concern is the potential for a burst of very heavy rain. Flood Watches have been posted south of our area, but steady showers could produce minor street flooding in Western Connecticut during the evening commute and will create bigger problems for commuters heading home from the New York City area.
Showers taper off by 11 p.m., with lows dropping into the low-60s. Some lingering drizzle is possible into early Friday morning.
Peeks of sunshine are expected with high temperatures in the upper-70s. It's a quieter day, but showers return late Friday night as mostly cloudy skies take over and lows settle near mid-60s.
Wet weather is expected this weekend. Saturday is expected to be a washout with cloudy skies and steady showers. There's a lower chance for thunderstorms so rain totals should generally be 1" or less. The flood risk is low. Temperatures will remain in the 70s much of the day.
Sunday trends a bit better with a chance of showers mixed with partial sunshine. Highs will be in the low-80s, but there is still a possibility this forecast could become wetter for Sunday especially since the humidity and sunshine could spark some afternoon storms.
High pressure builds in behind the weekend system, bringing a stretch of sunny and pleasant weather. Monday looks sunny with a high near 80 and clear skies overnight into the low-60s. Tuesday stays sunny with a high near 80, and Wednesday continues the dry trend with mostly sunny skies and a high near the low-80s.
